Google files third lawsuit against Russian antitrust service

MOSCOW, Sep 5 (PRIME) -- The Moscow Arbitration Court has registered a third lawsuit of Google against decisions and actions of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, which earlier fined it for abusing its dominant position on the market of preinstalled application stores, according to the court’s documents seen by PRIME on Monday.

The court received the lawsuit on September 2 and has not started considering it yet. The documents do not reveal what decisions and actions Google is litigating.

Google’s first lawsuit was submitted in December 2015, when the company asked court to turn down the service’s decision, but with no success.

The arbitration court received the second suit on August 26, when Google opposed the fine of 438 million rubles for administrative violations. The fine must be paid within 60 days. The case has not been studied yet.

The antitrust watchdog revealed that Google forced device manufacturers to install its popular application store, Google Play, only in a bundle with its other services, including the search engine on the default page, along with other conditions.

The service said on September 2 that Google asked it for a delay to mend its violations, and the request would be duly considered.
